Autocomplete
Autocomplete suggests text continuations right in the editor — gray ghost text after the cursor. The feature is off by default and is enabled manually.
Enabling
Status bar button: the Sparkles icon. A click toggles autocomplete between "AI autocomplete on" and "AI autocomplete off."
Also: Settings → AI — the autocomplete toggle.
Working with a Suggestion
After a pause in typing, gray ghost text appears — a continuation suggested by the AI.
| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Accept all | Tab |
| Accept one word | Cmd+→ / Ctrl+→ |
| Reject | Escape |
Start typing — the suggestion disappears automatically.
Speed Settings
Speed determines how quickly a suggestion appears after you stop typing.
| Mode | Delay |
|---|---|
| Calm | 1.5 sec |
| Balanced (default) | 0.8 sec |
| Fast | 0.4 sec |
Configure: Settings → AI → Autocomplete speed.
Suggestion Auto-hide
A suggestion hides automatically after a while if you don't accept it.
Options: Off / 5s / 10s / 15s / 30s.
Configure: Settings → AI → Hide delay.
Adaptive Slowdown
If you reject suggestions often, the system slows down so it doesn't get in your way:
- 5 rejections in a row — the delay doubles
- 10 rejections in a row — a 30-second pause
The counter resets when you accept a suggestion or restart the app. Auto-hide does not count as a rejection.
Suggestion Cache
Recent responses are cached locally. If you tweak the text slightly and pause again, a suggestion may appear instantly from the cache, without calling the AI.
Focus Mode
In focus mode, ghost text is rendered with reduced opacity to be less distracting.
Autocomplete Doesn't Trigger
A suggestion does not appear in the following cases:
- The cursor is in a heading (not in body text)
- Right after switching focus to the editor
- Right after deleting text
- During an undo
Settings
Enabling and disabling autocomplete, choosing the speed, and setting the hide delay are all available under Settings → AI.
