Writer Studio for macOS

Writer Studio is in alpha: expect unfinished features and occasional incompatibilities between releases. Keep a current backup of important projects.

Installation

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag Writer Studio into the Applications folder
  3. Eject the disk image
  4. Open Writer Studio from Applications or Spotlight

Security & Gatekeeper

The app is not currently signed with an Apple Developer certificate. macOS Gatekeeper will block it on first launch.

To open the app

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) Writer Studio in Applications
  2. Choose Open from the context menu
  3. Click Open in the security dialog

You only need to do this once. After the first launch, macOS will remember your choice.

Alternative: Terminal

  1. Open Terminal
  2. xattr -cr /Applications/Writer\ Studio.app
  3. Launch the app normally

System Requirements

  • macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) or later
  • Intel or Apple Silicon processor
  • ~200 MB disk space

Uninstall

Drag Writer Studio from Applications to the Trash. Project files remain in their original locations — they are standard files you can read without this software.
